Considering Membership in Pickens FBC?

Attend the next Discovery Class

(meets the second Sunday of January, March, May, July, September, and November)

The purpose of this class is to help participants “discover” more about Pickens FBC and what is involved in becoming a member. (Participants are not obligated to join the church.) It is designed for adults and students (high school and middle school), but parents are welcome to bring their younger children with them. This class will meet during the Sunday School hour at 9:15 a.m. in the parlor, which is near the church office. You do not have to sign-up to attend; just show-up on the second Sunday of any month. To become a member of the church, a person must have received Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord, confessed their faith in Him through believer’s baptism by immersion, and be committed to living a life of faith and obedience under the Lordship of Christ. Candidates for membership will meet with the Pastor or other designated person in order to discuss matters related to their relationship to Christ, baptism, and acceptance of the church's Statement of Faith and Church Covenant. All of these issues will be covered in the Discovery Class.

After meeting with the pastor or other designated person, individuals may offer themselves as candidates for church membership during any regular worship service in any of the following ways:

(1) by a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and a commitment to being

baptized by immersion, according to the policies of this church;

(2) by a letter of transfer from another Baptist church of like faith and practice; or

(3) by a statement of a prior conversion experience, which was followed by believer's baptism

by immersion in a church of like faith and practice.
