Having been led by the Spirit of God to repent of our sins and receive Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, and on the confession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, relying on God’s gracious aid, solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as members of First Baptist Church of Pickens, South Carolina to:
1. Uphold the integrity of the name of Jesus Christ and His church by:
a. Seeking the glory of God in all things
b. Striving to live a godly life
c. Attending faithfully the services of this church
d. Lovingly admonishing one another as occasion may require
2. Protect and preserve the unity of the Lord’s church by:
a. Demonstrating love for one another
b. Praying for one another and the church
c. Rejoicing at each other’s happiness and sympathizing with each other’s sorrows
d. Refusing to gossip
3. Serve in the ministry of the Lord’s church by:
a. Using my spiritual gifts and talents for the benefit of others
b. Developing a servant’s heart
c. Following the leaders of the church
d. Contributing financially in a systematic and proportionate manner
4. Fulfill the Great Commission mandated by the Lord to His church by:
a. Seeking the salvation of the unsaved in our circles of influence through our intentional witness
b. Supporting the spread of the gospel throughout the world through our prayers, offerings, and
missions involvement
c. Participating in small group Bible studies
d. Inviting the unchurched to attend and warmly welcoming guests
All of these commitments are the responsibilities of church members. Therefore, if we move from this place, we will unite with another church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
