Youth Lock-In

The PFBC Lock-In will be March 18-19 from 6PM – 7:30 AM. Parents can sign up at fbcpickens.org/lock-in.

Students should check-in at the Xchange between 5:45 – 6:00. We will be holding a meeting with students to go over rules and the night’s plan from 6:00 – 6:20. We will be leaving campus for dinner (probably at Fuddruckers in Anderson, SC) at 6:30. We will be leaving the Church at 10:30 to go Glow Bowling at Tri-City lanes in Easley. We will leave Tri-City at 1:00 AM.

Students will need to bring money for dinner.

The cost of shoe rentals and lane rentals at Tri-City will be covered by PFBC. Students should bring money for any snacks at Tri-City.

New Youth Sunday School Series

The Gospel of John differs from the other three gospel accounts of Jesus’ life and ministry. John focused on the nature of Christ and how belief in Him leads to true life. Through the first three chapters, we learn how we’re dependent upon God to help us believe in the name of Jesus and become His children and experience a well of abundant grace that never runs dry. To this day, Jesus continues to draw followers to Himself in the same ways He drew His first disciples. Jesus became like us so that we might become like Him. (12 sessions)

United Christian Ministries Annual Food Drive

Please help us build up our food stock during the month of November until Sunday, November 24 with our annual Thanksgiving Dinner. Our van will be parked in front of the church all day the 24th. Start bringing your donations this week and they can be stored in the Adult IV room.
Our needs are as follows:

Can soup
Rice
Dried beans
Macaroni and cheese
Cereal
Grits
Breakfast Juices
Can fruit
Can vegetables & beans
Jelly
Can meats & meals
Monetary donations

Youth Fall Festival

The youth are having their own fall celebration at a church member’s house THIS SATURDAY from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Students should bring a dessert or appetizer and 2-liter to share. This will be a time of fellowship and games. Parents are encouraged to attend. We will also have a pumpkin-carving contest.

Trunk or Treat

On Thursday, October 31, PFBC will host a Trunk-or-Treat at Legacy Square from 6:00pm- 8:00pm to share the Gospel and give out information on our church. We need AT LEAST 30 vehicles to participate. If you are interested in helping, please sign up in the vestibule. We are asking folks to keep the “scare” decorations to an absolute minimum, as this event is meant for outreach…please no demons, ghosts, monsters, etc.

Youth Winter Ski Retreat 2020

Our youth Winter Ski Retreat to Winterplace Ski Resort is February 7-9. A $45 non-refundable/non-transferable deposit will be due on Wednesday, November 13. A final balance of $90 will be due on Wednesday, December 4 for all skiers, snowboarders, and tubers. Ski bibs are an extra $10 and helmets are an extra $5 if you need them. If your student(s) only wants to participate in the retreat and does not want to ski, snowboard, or tube, the final balance is only $65. Financial assistance and extended deadlines are available upon request. Discounts are available to siblings.

Samaritan’s Purse Processing Center

We have reserved a time to go to the Samaritan’s Purse Processing Center in Charlotte on December 13^th & 14^th and volunteer to help prepare shoeboxes to be shipped out all over the world. These shoe boxes are more than a simple gift to a needy child. These shoeboxes carry the love of Christ and are followed up by a 13 week class for children to better understand the Gospel and receive Christ as their own personal Lord and Savior! If you can help on either or both dates, please sign up in the Sanctuary Foyer. For those going on both dates, we will spend the night in Charlotte and go to the Billy Graham Library. There will be a small charge depending on cost of hotel and meals.

God Commands Us to Enjoy Life!

The quotes below reinforce the point of last Sunday’s message from Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:8 – “God commands us to enjoy life in this world, while we can, in a way that pleases Him.”

“For it is precisely in enjoying the world God has made that we show we have grasped the goodness of the God we say we love. Failure to enjoy is an offense, not merely an oversight. When the child does not enjoy the gift the parent has lavished on him, it is an affront to the parent’s love as much as the child’s deliberately breaking the toy. No parent is glad that Buzz Lightyear sits pristinely in the box rather than being lovingly bashed and bumped in daily adventures. Real relationship involves seeing another person take pleasure in gifts given; delight is what we ask of others as we freely give to them.

A New Opportunity This Fall!

Younger women of PFBC! Join us at the new Women on Mission meeting.

This group will meet the 2nd Tuesday night of each month from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Women’s Bible Study room on the top floor. First meeting is September 11.

We will have dessert and coffee, fellowship and missions education and a mission project!
